"US-Africa summit is a success" – Mnangagwa – The Zimbabwe Mail

HARARE – President Emmerson Mnangagwa described the recently concluded US-Africa Business Meeting as a success, as Zimbabwe has been able to advance its reengagement processes and has also secured some economic deals.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa spoke on his arrival at Robert Mugabe International Airport this Thursday evening after attending the US-Africa summit in Mozambique, where various deals to attract private capital were won.

"Zimbabwe could get a pipeline linking Zimbabwe and Mozambique and this will increase energy options. There are also opportunities for Zimbabwe's private sector, which will increase foreign direct investment, as Zimbabwe is open for business, "he said.

The president also said the summit provided an opportunity for the government to reaffirm its commitment to political reform when it met top US government officials.

"I was able to bring together US government officials and we discussed issues related to the repeal of the Public Order and Security Act (POSA) and the Law on Access to Information and Protection of Privacy (AIPPA) and reaffirmed our position to continue progressing to take advantage of our democratic processes "Added President Mnangagwa.

President Mnangagwa was received at the Robert Mugabe International Airport by the Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri, Minister of State of Harare Province Oliver Chidawu, Chief Secretary of the President and Cde Misheck Sibanda Cabinet, Heads of Service and Senior Officials from the government.
