LONDON (Reuters) – Liverpool and Manchester City dominate the Professional Footballers Association's list of six men of the year, with defender Virgil van Dijk and striker Raheem Sterling as top candidates.
Van Dijk joins Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane on the list, while Sterling is alongside other City players Sergio Aguero and Bernardo Silva, after voting for other professionals.
Chelsea winger Eden Hazard completes the nominees, with the winner announced on April 28.
Sterling and Silva, both 24, are also on the list of finalists of the best player of the year. They join in this category for Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, Bournemouth striker David Brooks and Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.
For the female player of the year award, Manchester City trio Steph Houghton, Nikita Parris and Keira Walsh were selected alongside Chelsea's Erin Cuthbert and Ji So-yun and Vivianne Miedema of Arsenal.
Miedema, the women's Superliga striker with 27 goals, Walsh and Cuthbert were also named to the youth player of the year, along with City striker Georgia Stanway, striker Alisha Lehmann and Bristol City goalie Sophie Baggaley.
