Microsoft takes part in competition against Apple AirPods – Tech News

The technology site Thurrott informs that Microsoft has a pair of Surface wireless headphones.

Apple's AirPods have taken the headphone industry by storm since they were released in December 2016. Since then, headphone companies across the world including Samsung, Skullcandy and even Amazon are going wireless to participate in the competition . And this week the tech site Thurrott reported that "Microsoft is currently working on a pair of headphones with the code name Morrison" as well.

Last year, the company launched Surface Headphones, a pair of wireless and noise-canceling headphones, and Thurrott's internal sources report that Microsoft wants to expand its headphone portfolio to cover in-ear and intra- -head.

Since Surface Headphones offer noise canceling technology and are integrated with Cortana, we can expect Morrison to present the same, especially as the market is increasingly saturated with smart headphones equipped with a voice assistant.

The code name is thought to be a reference to Jim Morrison, an iconic American rock star. Before Surface Headphones hit the market, its code name was Joplin, probably in reference to American rock singer / songwriter Janis Joplin (1943-1970) or Scott Joplin, an American ragtime songwriter.

From now on, it is not known if a production version of the Surface headset has been developed yet; therefore, the launch of these headphones is still reasonably distant. – AFP Relaxnews
