Venezuelan Freddy Galvis pacts with Toronto Blue Jays

The Venezuelan boxer Freddy Galvis arrived Tuesday to an agreement with the Toronto Blue Jays in Major League Baseball, with a one-year contract and five million dollars.

The deal includes a salary of $ 4 million plus performance bonuses this year and a club's 5.4 million option for the 2020 season, as well as a million if terminated early.

Galvis batted .248 with 31 doubles, five 3-pointers and 13 home runs with the San Diego Padres last year, playing all 162 regular-season games for the second straight season.

The 29-year-old has a .246 lifeline with 65 homers and 300 RBIs in seven seasons in the Big Tent, six of them with the Philadelphia Phillies, and one with the San Diego Padres.
