Alfredo Romero, director of the NGO Penal Forum, reported Wednesday the death of Clever Perez, a 24-year-old indigenous Kuparamacay, in a hospital in Boa Vista, Brazil.
"Our sincere condolences to Melanie, the wife of Clever Perez (24), and the entire indigenous family of Kumaracapay. Clever died today," said the human rights activist on Twitter.
He pointed out that tourist guide Tepuy Roraima would be the fifth indigenous killed, victim of repression by officials of the state security agencies during Saturdays and Sundays this week.
On Saturday, humanitarian aid was expected to enter Venezuela, but uniformed and irregular armed groups prevented it from firing tear gas and pellets to deter people seeking supplies.
