New blackout has affected Caracas and several states of the country

Social networking users reported a new power outage in several areas of Caracas and the interior of the country, at about 9:45 pm Monday.

People report failures in areas of Caracas such as San Bernardino, Tahona, El Cafetal, Bello Monte, on January 23, El Hatillo, Terrazas do Clube Hípico, Avenida Panteón, Prados del Este, Hoyo de la Puerta, Sucre Avenue, Las Mercedes, La Carlota, Saint Martin, El Paraiso, Florida, Quinta Crespo, Santa Fe, Caricuao, La Candelaria, El Marquez, Manzanares, La Urbina.

In the interior of the country there are faults in Valencia, Maracaibo, Charallave, Guarenas, Guatire, San Antonio dos Altos, Los Teques, Carrizal, Barquisimeto, Maracay, Colón Tovar, Margarita, Portuguesa, El Tigre, Caraballeda, among others.

The afternoon of Monday was an electrical fault that affected much of Caracas and 14 states of the country. The blackout caused the Metro de Caracas to suspend its commercial service on lines 1, 2 and 3.

Jorge Rodríguez said that the failure occurred due to a new "attack" at the center of charge of hydroelectric generation in El Guri, Bolivar state, "with the intention of removing the machines from the plant of the system."

For his part, Juan Guaidó, acting president of the Republic, said Monday that the blackout that affected 16 states of the country was the result of a fire in a high voltage line.
