Google has launched a new "night mode" for its Pixel series phones that substantially improves the quality of images taken in low-light environments using computer photography techniques.
In a statement, the company based in Mountain View (California, USA) reported the new function, "Night vision"and that, according to various specialized media like The Verge and Gizmondo, is among the best currently offered by the market to capture images in the dark.
Before you capture, "Night Sight" performs multiple calculations based on the movement of the hand holding the phone, the movement of objects that appear in the scene, and the amount of available light, determine how many exposures it takes and how long each should last.
Then the camera will up to fifteen photographs in a period that can be up to six seconds, and then use artificial intelligence to extract information from all of them and create an illuminated, high resolution image under the circumstances and minimize the effect of movement.
This new feature, which does not use flash and is designed to capture images without the need of a tripod, will be available, among others, for Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL that the company presented on October 9 and are committed to integration of artificial intelligence in the camera.
