Published today in the journal Neurology, the study followed 132 people between 20 and 67 years old, "non-smokers and without dementia" for six months, but who were not exercising at the beginning of the study.
The group that performed the aerobic exercise presented the best mental results, improving their results in the evaluations of the executive functions in 0.5 point, against 0.25 points of those who did stretching and toning.
