After Oculus co-founder Brendan Iribe left the company late last year, TechCrunch reported a shift in the strategy of developing a "Rift 2" for a slightly upgraded "Rift S" VR headset. Now UploadVR cites the code found in Oculus PC software referencing the new device and giving some tips on its capabilities. A "lighting frequency for Rift S cameras to adjust room lighting" toggles the use of built-in tracking cameras, while a software configuration to adjust "Interpupillary Distance (IPD)" shows the drop in the original Rift IPD setting.
Not surprisingly, it seems to have some things in common with Oculus Quest. Even though this does not follow the original Rift path by showing what RV experiences can be, a simpler and slightly more accessible setting is closer to what business owners on Facebook have in mind.
