James Gunn was fired by Disney after a decade of tweets resurfaced where he made nasty jokes. Gunn directed the first two Guardians of the Galaxy movies, and they were a huge success for Disney and Marvel. Still, his internet jokes were offensive enough to convince Disney director Bob Iger to cut Gunn forever. Warner Bros and DC Comics were eager to conquer Gunn, and he recovered with Marvel's rival.

According The Hollywood Reporter, Gunn is in negotiations to direct the Suicide squad sequel "The photo has the title of The Suicide Squad and is not being labeled as a straightforward sequence, but as a re-release, "wrote Borys Kit for THR. Sources say Gunn is planning to take the franchise to a new direction, using mostly new characters instead of following the previous film. Suicide squad starred Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis and Jared Leto and killed him at the box office. He earned $ 746 million worldwide, but fans and critics scorned him. Gunn has already been hired to write the script, so the decision of Warner Bros to block him as director is not a surprise. The Suicide Squad is expected for a summer version of 2021, so it may take a while until we get new information.
