The company unmasked the coupon scam that promised users a $ 75 off purchase at the wholesale warehouse.
"Although we like our fans and members, this offer is a scam and in no way affiliated with Costco," the company said.
The fraudulent offer came up on Facebook earlier this year, prompting users to click on a non-Costco affiliate link to receive their $ 75 coupon. To access it, users would need to share the Facebook post and enter some personal information. .
Breaking up the fake coupon has become an annual tradition: a year ago, on the same day, Costco issued essentially the same statement, although that year the fraud occurred under the company's 50th anniversary cover (it wasn't).
Costco shares legitimate agreements on its website and does not accept coupons that are not issued by Costco. So if you need to share a suspicious amount of personal information or post the coupon on social media to get the offer, it's probably not real.
