The Mercedes-AMG CLA45 S seems to have been revealed in the German configurator of the brand.
Well, that's interesting. Mercedes-Benz seems to have inadvertently revealed its new Mercedes-AMG CLA45 S a little earlier thanks to a bug with its German configurator.
Discovered for the first time by an eagle eye AutoBild reader, the image appeared in the official CLA35 configurator (somewhat bizarrely, by clicking on an icon for information on the CLA35's AMG Night package).
From what we can tell, the Stuttgart-based company has since plugged the leak, removing the dishonest photo from its site.
Although frustratingly low resolution (take a look at the enlarged version below), the image appears to show the model using a distinctive "CLA45 S", with the final letter indicating its position at the top of the strip. The model shown also features quad exhaust, an aggressive rear diffuser, a trunk lid spoiler, darkened rear lamps and new alloy wheels (the latter framed by red brake calipers).
Although the energy numbers have not yet been announced, the CLA45 (like the upcoming hatch and A45 sedan) should be equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine offered in two states.
The basic model will develop about 285 kW, while the S-badged model should have about 314 kW. Both will employ a new, sophisticated version of the German 4Matic all-wheel drive (complete with a dedicated "drift mode") along with an eight-speed dual clutch transmission.
