After a fierce war, Netflix left with the right "Tick, Tick … Boom", a musical adaptation to be directed by the creator of "Hamilton" Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Sources say Andrew Garfield is the best choice to star in, although no deal is made.
"Dear Evan Hansen" writer Stephen Levenson adapted the screenplay based on the original stage of the late "Rent" creator, Jonathan Larson. Brian Grazer and Ron Howard and Julie Oh of Imagine Entertainment are producing along with Miranda. Julie Larson and Levinson are executive producers.

Meanwhile, his best friend and roommate, Michael, has given up his creative aspirations for a high-paying job on Madison Avenue and is about to move. As Jon approaches his thirtieth birthday, he is overcome with anxiety – wondering if his dream is worth the cost.

Larson died tragically the night before the show's first appearance on Off-Broadway. "Rent" ended up spending 12 years on the Great White Way, making it the 11th busiest in Broadway history.
Miranda often finds Larson as a source of inspiration. The film marks the debut in the direction of Miranda, having worked mainly in Broadway in the last two decades like playwright behind hits like "Hamilton" and "In the Heights". A cinematographic adaptation of "In the Heights", the first Tony of Miranda. -winning musical, is currently under construction at Warner Bros.
If a deal is closed for Garfield to star in, the role would be very timely for the actor, who is coming out of his role as Tony winner in the revival of "Angels in America." Garfield also recently landed the role of Jim Bakker alongside Jessica Chastain in Fox Searchlight's "The Eyes of Tammy Faye" photo.
Miranda was most recently seen alongside Emily Blunt in Disney's "Mary Poppins Returns." He is represented by WME and Liebman Entertainment and Garfield is represented by the CAA.
