Microsoft today released a new Windows 10 preview with Emoji 12.0. The update releases Windows 10 from version 18841 (made available to testers on February 20) for the construction of the 18845. These versions are from the branch office of 20H1, which represents the Windows 10 update that will arrive in the first half of next year.

Windows 10 is being developed as a service, which means it receives new features regularly. Microsoft has released six major updates to date: November Update, Anniversary Update, Creator Update, Autumn Creator Update, April 2018 Update, and October 2018 Update.

Emoji 12.0 was finalized earlier this month. With the emoji set to be included in Emoji 12.0 now decided by Unicode, Microsoft added it to Windows 10. When you press WIN + (dot) or WIN + (semicolon), all those emoji appear when you search by their correspondents. keywords (otter, laziness, waffle, sneakers and so on).

This version is for Windows users who chose the Ignore option, in which only a small subset of the insiders can choose. Normally, that would mean 19H2, since 19H1 have not yet been released, but Microsoft has chosen to jump ahead this time. Having said that, Microsoft is not yet adding many new features, and those who pay attention will note that the changes and fixes in this build are very similar to the 18342 build of the 19H1 split.

Bug fixes and known issues

This 20H1 build includes the following general fixes for bugs and improvements:

  • Fixed an issue that caused the Hands-Free Bluetooth audio driver to crash.
  • Fixed an issue that made some Insiders unable to access the Quests section of the Feedback Hub.
  • Fixed a problem that resulted in a decrease in the reliability of the Start menu in the previous flight.
  • Fixed an issue that resulted in Microsoft Edge crashing when starting some Insiders in the previous flight.
  • Small adjustments to make the help icon in File Explorer seem a little better when the dark theme is on.

  • Fixed a problem with the new Adlam keyboard, resulting in not being able to type certain common words.
  • Fixed an issue where, when typing Vietnamese, the touchpad was automatically capitalizing on all words in certain applications.

  • Fixed a problem that could cause the taskbar's search box text to go black in a black background.
  • Fixed an issue where the Start menu failed to use Narrator to navigate through the fixed folders in Start.

This build has nine known issues:

  • Launching games that use anti-cheat software can trigger a bug check (GSOD).
  • Some reliability errors of night light remain.
  • For display calibration scenarios, monitors may be missing in the integrated color management application. As a workaround, use the Settings application to select the color profile on the Display Settings page.
  • Some Realtek SD card readers are not working properly.
  • In the Windows Sandbox, if you try to navigate to the Narrator settings, the Settings application hangs.
  • The color of the mouse pointer may be incorrectly changed to white after exiting and logging in again.
  • Creative X-Fi sound cards are not working properly.
  • If you install any of the recent Skip Ahead builds and switch to the Fast ring or the Slow ring, optional content such as developer mode activation will fail. You will have to stay in the Fast ring to add / install / activate the optional content. This is because optional content will only be installed on builds that are approved for specific rings.

As always, do not install this on your production machine.
