UPDATE: The vast majority of the 2019 Cannes Film Festival's programming was revealed this morning in Paris with such long-awaited names as Pedro Almodovar (Pain and Glory), Terrence Malick (A hidden life) and Ken Loach (Sorry, we missed you.) in the mix – see below the original post for the complete list. At the same time, there is still no confirmation of the anticipation of Quentin Tarantino Once upon a time in Hollywood – still. Fest boss Thierry Frémaux said he is not ready yet, but hopes to add it. What he saw of the period film is "magnificent."
Overall, there were few surprises, but among the twists here on the Champs-Elysées this morning, there are four female directors in Competition, most of all recent years. They include Jessica Hausner from Little joe and Céline Sciamma de Portrait of a lady on fire.

We do not expect to hear any of the listed Netflix or Amazon features, marking the first time in four years without a movie from any of the streamers. However, as Deadline reported, at least one episode of the Amazon series of Nicolas Winding Refn Too old to die young is looking at a special slot.
Perhaps the biggest question, which may not be answered this morning, is whether Quentin Tarantino Once upon a time in Hollywood should debut on May 21. This would mark 25 years for the day since pulp Fiction impressed the Croisette before winning Palme d'Or. Sony's title has been very well priced in Cannes, but let's see if Frémaux gives up the merchandise today.
Elsewhere, Terrence Malick of A hidden life (formerly entitled Radegundo) is expected, as well as that of Pedro Almodóvar Pain and GloryBong Joon-ho Parasite and Ken Loach Sorry, we missed you.among many others.
