Epic Games provides a major update on the future state of competition Fortnite

Hey folks, we're starting a set of messages designed to communicate our current competitive philosophy. You can expect three parts regarding recent learning, general Fortnite competition, and future feature sets. Let's dive! Last year was an invaluable learning experience for the entire Fortnite team. In the last six months, there have been 33 official North American and European online competitions and two major offline competitions. These competitions totaled approximately $ 20 million in prizes awarded to nearly 1,000 players. Each of these competitions is helping to grow, evolve and shape Fortnite's competitive experience.

We value the ability of players to adapt to the game by changing over time. We also believe that these changes keep Fortnite fresh for everyone, including players, competitors and spectators. However, we want to provide a reasonable amount of time for you to adjust your strategies after major changes in the game, for example, prior to the official Fortnite competitions. This time window can range from a few days to a week from a posting.

This starts with the next Australian Open, which will use the main Battle Royale modes during the competition, something we will continue to take into account throughout 2019. Fortnite will continue to be updated every week, but for official Fortnite big competitions we can adjust for competitive needs.

More to come.
