Customers ordering Pixel 4 are still waiting for Google Store credit as Black Friday sales approach


Some Pixel 4 presale customers feel they have been left behind by Google's Black Friday offers. To make a long story short, when they booked their phones to receive $ 100 in Google Store credit within 6 to 8 weeks, many people were assuming the company would forgo a holiday sale on the phones it just launched. However, Pixel 4 will in fact get $ 200 off as of November 24, and that left early adopters with a bruise.

Android Police Reader David has written to us about his displeasure with running out of pre-order credit, noting that the $ 100 can't arrive until a few days after Christmas – from the end of the pre-order period. -Online, on October 26, the delivery window would be from December 7 to 21.

Interestingly, Google offered $ 50 in store credit for Pixel 3 pre-orders last year and distributed them within 4-6 weeks. It then launched a $ 150 Pixel discount and a $ 200 Pixel 3 XL discount for Black Friday that year, but at least at that time, customers were able to begin redeeming their presale money.

So what is going on here? Why offer half the discount to loyal customers one week behind in contrast to the masses of post-Thanksgiving shopping?

"6 to 8 weeks"

We've covered some advertised product launches with pre-order benefits. Generally, however, the former arrives at the door much faster than the latter – small print can specify from 4 to 6 weeks or yes, from 6 to 8 weeks.

Supply chain management is the hardest time here, as the company needs to prepare these bonus items and be ready to produce more batches to meet demand. In fact, check out our pre-sale bonus post and you'll see that Google had physical items that you would need to see to ship in different countries. The company also needs to verify this demand by charging customers bank or credit accounts or, as Samsung and LG do with their buyers, go through a separate order form for their promotional items after receiving the desired device.

But all of this doesn't explain why Google couldn't just quickly track all store credit offers made in the US, Canada, Australia, Singapore, and Taiwan. In our opinion, it should not take longer than the time required to debit the customer to send it. So why did it take longer than that?

Double or leave

Then there is the question of why Google would give advance buyers $ 100 credit instead of a $ 200 discount, as Black Friday applicants will receive. We have no explanation for that, honestly.

Each company's marketing department operates unique to another – in Google's case, you can say that each team's marketers behave differently from the next team – and while expecting the Google Store to be aware of their portfolio of products in the fall and what the forecast demand curve would be like, we are sure that, as with anything else, some aspects were thought more than others.
