A 21-year-old man in Tennessee opened fire apparently "randomly" at a shopping mall near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, killing a woman and wounding a man before turning on the gun, police said.

The shooter was identified as Leon Steven Jones of Newport-Sevierville, Tennessee.

The woman was 24, Olivia Katel Cunningham, of York, Pennsylvania.

The injured man, 75-year-old John Marr of Templeton, Mass., Was rushed to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. His condition was not known.

Investigators said the gunman did not know any of the victims, adding that none of them were related. All three were shot with a semi-automatic pistol, said Sevierville police spokesman Bob Stahlke.

"I do not know if he was going to shoot one or two people and then do what he did, or if his intention was to shoot more.I just do not know.But all we can do in law enforcement is to get here the most and this situation ended when we got here, "said Stahlke, as the Knoxville News Sentinel reported.

The police spokesman said there was no further threat, and that the Tanger Outlets mall remained open, except for a small area surrounded as a crime scene.
