President of the World Boxing Organization Francisco Valkarsel said that Vasily Lomachenko did not have to defend the champion belt since there simply are no candidates for this.
"Lomachenko now has no mandatory opponent. However, he has 18 months from the time of the fight with Pedraza in order to carry out mandatory title protection," said Valcarsel.
Lomachenko will be forced to spend within a year and a half after the victory over Pedrasa on December 10 last year.
