The finalists of the competition "European Car of the Year" were announced: Automedia: VladTime


The results of the "European Car of the Year" competition will be announced at the March auto show in Geneva, but for now the organizers have announced the cars on the short list.

The European Car of the Year competition will take place in 1964. Next year, seven cars will compete for the prestigious title: Alpine A110, Jaguar I-Pace, Ford Focus, Mercedes-Benz A-Class, Kia Ceed, Peugeot 508 and Citroën C5 Aircross.

The winner of the award will be determined by 58 press representatives from 22 countries. Each of them has 25 points, which will need to be delivered in one or another amount to everyone on the short list of the competition.

In 2018, the compact cross Volvo XC40 received the title of European Car of the Year. This car received 325 points. The second place in the prize went to the Seat Ibiza model, which received 242 points. The top three also included the BMW 5 Series with a score of 226 points. The fourth place was occupied by the KIA Stinger fastback with 204 points, and the five were hit by the Citroen C3 Aircross SUV, with a total of 173. In 2017, the Peugeot 3008 was awarded the title of car of the year in Europe.
