The film "Donbass" was the best film in the film festival in Spain

The film "Donbass" by Ukrainian director Sergey Loznitsa received the award for best film at the 15th European Film Festival of Spain in Seville.

The film received the Golden Giraldillo award – the award for best film.

– The film achieves an exquisite combination of film form and documentary film sentiment. Excellent cinematography gives a creative and clear insight into the relentless tragedy of the "haze of war," – says on the website of the event in the description of the tape.

The festival in Seville takes place in early November 2001 and lasts nine days.

The special jury prize was awarded to the film "Ray and Liz" – the debut of British photographer Richard Billingham.

Prizes for the best film were won by the Cannes Film Festival winners Olivier Assayas, Mia Hansen-Leve and Nuri Bilge Ceylan, as well as Oscar winners Florian Henkel von Donnersmark and Laslo Nemesh.

The film "Donbass" is a co-production of Ukraine, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Romania.

The film premiered on May 9, 2018 at the 71st Cannes International Film Festival, where the film won the award for directing as part of the "Special Night" program.

Previously, it was reported that the Ukrainian film "Donbass" has been included in the list of countries qualified to participate in competitions for the prestigious film prize "Oscar" in the category "Best foreign language film".
