The deputy of the Zhytomyr regional council of VO Batkivshchyna Dmitry Kropachev killed a woman in a pedestrian crossing to death, reports Zhitomir.info with reference to its own sources in law enforcement agencies and the regional council.
According to sources, the fatal accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on 24 November in the village of Teterevka in the Zhytomyr region.
Local police said the 38-year-old Highlander SUV driver, who was moving in the direction of Zhytomyr, hit a local resident of 60 years. According to preliminary data, the deceased walked in front of an unregulated pedestrian crossing on an unlit part of the road. Police did not specify the driver's identity.
"Dmitry Kropachev was driving a Toyota, the test showed that he was sober," Zhitomir.info sources said.
After the accident, the police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of art. 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules or operation of vehicles by persons driving vehicles) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Police arrested the driver and collected blood samples to determine the state of alcohol or drugs.
