The Serbian Orthodox Church refused to recognize the canonicity of the newly established Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
The Serbian Orthodox Church refused to recognize the newly established Orthodox Church of Ukraine, calling it non-canonical. This is stated in the press statement and the mass media department of the TWC, reports on Thursday, February 28, Glavred.
In particular, commenting on the creation of the autocephalous church in Ukraine, the Serbian church emphasized that "the schismatic remained schismatic" and "since a schismatter is a schismatic forever, except in cases of sincere treatment and deep repentance."
"The only church the Serbian Church knows and recognizes is the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, headed by the Blessed Metropolitan Onufriy of Kiev and All of Ukraine," the SPT said in a statement.
They also declared a "non-canonical invasion of the Patriarchate of Constantinople into the territory of the Russian Church," and the unifying council convened in Kiev with the participation of Constantinople was called "a divisive and separative faction, which dug deeper into the alienation and disintegration of the society of the unfortunate country of Ukraine ".
Earlier, the Romanian Orthodox Church declared that it could recognize the Ukrainian Orthodox Church if the Ukrainian authorities guaranteed the rights and freedoms of the Romanian communities.
Recall, on January 5, in Istanbul, the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew signed with Tomos the autocephaly of the PCU. And the next day, January 6, Bartolomeu officially presented Tomos to Epiphany, the first primate of the chain of command, Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine.
