Tunisia is the capital of the Arab Confederation in 2020

It was agreed that Tunisia will become the capital of the Arab Confederation in 2020 during a meeting on Monday evening with the Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts Rooney Trabelsi, the President of the Arab Organization for Tourism Bandar Bin Fahd Al-Fahid, accompanied by a high-level delegation in the margins of its participation in the 30th session of the League of Arab States held in Tunis.

It was also decided to send an office of the Arab Tourism Organization in Tunis, which will be in the Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts, to link countries in the Middle East, Persian Gulf and Maghreb, according to a statement from the Ministry of Tourism and Crafts.

During the meeting, they discussed ways of boosting joint work between the Organization and the Ministry in the context of the immediate interaction recommended by the final communiqué of the League of Arab States summit, which highlighted the importance of the economic dimension of joint action among Arab countries.

The Minister of Tourism reviewed the reality and perspectives of the tourism sector and its importance for the national economy, highlighting the organization's fundamental role in linking the various Arab tourist destinations to develop the exchange of tourist delegations and boost joint investment projects and supervise trainings which gather tires and professionals from different Arab countries.

For his part, the president of the Arab Organization for Tourism Bandar Bin Fahad Al-Fahid expressed his "gratitude for the meeting of Rooney Trabelsi, who has a good impression as a field minister with significant experience in the field of tourism."

He also stressed the role of the Organization in activating the decisions of the League of Arab States and working with the various Arab countries to carry out the various decisions on the ground, considering that Tunisia is one of the most important Arab tourist destinations that can use its knowledge to benefit of sister countries in the framework of Arab cooperation.

The meeting was an opportunity to study ways to develop a plan of action with the Organization to develop Arab tourism in general, according to the same author.
