World number one Maria Sharapova will take part in the tournament after recovering from an operation on her right shoulder, organizers said.
The 32-year-old, who currently ranks 49th in the world ranking, responded "yes to the organizers of Mallorca and will return to court after months without attending the tournament because of a right shoulder injury."
"I am very happy to announce that I will accept the invitation card for the Mallorca tournament, which takes place on grass courts between June 17 and 23," the statement said. Sharapova underwent a second operation on her shoulder in February 2019. After her absence she attended the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam Grand Slam, and reached the final price, losing to the Australian Ashley Barty, the first major title of her career, beating the young Czech Marcita Vandrosova in the French final of Roland Garros.
