Former world number one Maria Sharapova will take part in the Spanish Grand Prix after recovering from surgery on her right shoulder in February.
The 32-year-old, currently in 49th place, responded positively to the call for Mallorca organizers and will return to the stadium after months without attending the tournament due to a right shoulder injury, the organizers said in a statement. "I am very happy to announce that I will accept the invitation card for Mallorca, which takes place on grass blocks between June 17," Sharapova said.
Sharapova underwent a second operation on her shoulder in February after the first of 2008. Prior to her absence she attended the Australian Open in January, the first Grand Slam Grand Prix, and reached the final price.
