Georg Heitz (49), who is the sporting director of FC Basel for eight titles in a series, should help the reigning champions to recover.
In which league the Grasshoppers will play, still not sure. But it looks suspicious like the Challenge League. And the order for the new coach Uli Forte and a possible director of sports is clear: go up again immediately!
The new boss of the GC, Stephan Rietiker, has at 1: 1 in Neuchâtel a stranger in tow. Blick learned: He's Reto Jauch (52), a world headhunter. He usually seeks advice and boards of directors for banks and asset managers. Now, Jauch is helping GC's new boss, Rietiker, find board members and a new CEO.
Probably only indirectly have to do the headhunter with the pursuit of a new sporting conscience – the successor of sporting director dismissed Mathias Walther.
GC bosses pay for the luxury variant
The rumor mill spat the names of former GC players, Mats Gren, Dusan Pavlovic or Bernt Haas. Also former sports chief Dragan Rapic (celebrated with Forte 2013 in the GC Cup win) or Fredy Bickel were a problem.
It will be different. Rietiker, Forte & Co. is opting for the luxury variant: Georg Heitz (49) must (probably) set up a new and powerful team for the time being under mandate. That he can do this, he demonstrated impressively at FC Basel from 2009. The FCB was mastered with Heitz (and Boss Heusler) eight times in a row!
Heitz began his career as a sports journalist, then worked for FIFA. Since his departure at FCB 2017, he leads a consulting firm with Heusler, which is expected to include, among other things, the new national sports director.
