On September 25 came the message that Arne Weise, one of Sweden's most famous TV profiles, has died – 89 years.
"This afternoon we said goodbye to our beloved father when he fell asleep quietly in his bed.”Wrote the son on Instagram.
The family told him that he died of natural causes. Following the news of his death, the popular host was acclaimed by friends, acquaintances and former colleagues.
Agnetha Malmberg, mother of Andreas Weise and Arne's ex-wife, told us that the family broke up with Arne Weise.
Arne Weise is buried at Högalid Church in Stockholm
She said goodbye the night before her sleep – at the nursing home Arne Weise had lived in since leaving her apartment in Gärdet, Stockholm.
– So he was tired, very tired. The team understood what was happening, said Agneta Malmberg.
– He was not in pain, I found it very cool. I asked this several times. It seemed like a big goodbye, even if it seemed empty to him.
Arne Weise is taken to final rest on Thursday, October 24 at 14:00, the family announces. There will be an open burial held at the Högalid Church in Södermalm, Stockholm.
Arne Weise's obituary was published in Svenska Dagbladet on October 13.
During his long and successful career, Arne Weise performed on both Swedish radio and Swedish television, where for many years he was the channel's most influential broadcaster.
"He was a small safety factor for viewers"
Among the Swedes, he is famous for celebrating Christmas at SVT every year with millions of viewers across the country. Arne Weise hosted Christmas for three decades between 1972 and 2002, when she lit the candle in the box for the last time.
I think he was a small safety factor for viewers. I mean, he became a regular and good friend who was visiting people's living room. I didn't know Arne that way, but it's a real TV personality who passed away and is boring, legendary TV producer Karin Falck said earlier.
Arne Weise had five children from three different marriages. After retirement, he had health problems and was affected by, among other things, angina, pneumonia and infected intestinal pockets.
