Five reasons that, with balance, is a great car for the public

After the first 300 kilometers, we can say that, from the point of view of the average buyer, the clio is written on the skin (also) of the Slovenians. Now he is even more successful in addressing this broader base of drivers; It has become versatile, chooses a good compromise between traditional and modern digital approaches, responded well enough to changes in propulsion systems and especially when it comes to the whole package therefore really convinced. Renault has chosen a (safer) average route considerably, which is why it does not separate drivers.




The most noticeable change inside is a different center console, on top of which is a 9.3-inch vertical touchscreen. We embrace the ergonomics of the center console with physical buttons and rotary knobs to regulate the air conditioning.

1. Driver's space: digital vision, overly central ridge?

The view behind the wheel reveals most of the changes in the new clia. The steering wheel is a little more modern, pleasantly thick and with sufficient longitudinal movement. The transparency for the first digital meters (size 7 to 10 inches) is very good through the steering wheel. The center console is slightly facing the driver. The novelty is a portable 9.3-inch digital screen that mesmerizes with the level-resolution of similar screens on premium seals. The cli driver with the manual transmission will break the center ridge quite high and then it is more difficult to hold the gear lever of the five-speed gearbox.

2. Central console: a great compromise for scanning and traditional buttons

The interior seems to be a good compromise between traditional solutions and scanning. Certainly, the clio inside (and out) is less daring and futuristic than the new Peugeot 208, but that's why its ergonomics really are great. The digital dashboard is equipped with dash meters (the print fits the selected rolling program, the driver adjusts the individual parts of the screen, etc.) and the vertical center screen, and there are two more types of physical buttons below it. We know you from the dacia duster, and that's not bad at all. The first line of buttons is quality (despite the plastic material reminiscent of the auditorium buttons) under the rotary knobs makes it easy to edit the air conditioning settings.

3. Detailed interface: faster, Google's unique search bar, the image of the inverted camera is too wide-angle

The infotainment interface is brand new and Clio has achieved the first among Renault models. The screen is responsive, as has been said, has high resolution, with Slovenian menus for the first time, it is also a simple single line to use Google's browser in navigation. Clio now has a 360 degree view around the vehicle with the help of four cameras, but above all the image of the classic rearview camera is very wide-angle.

The door mechanism is therefore better hidden from impact, but the door is now opened through the button under the top edge of the bumper. The door opening system is therefore new. The luggage compartment is loaded with 390 liters of volume, but its edge is very high.

During the bends, the new clio has confirmed its character as a very versatile car. The driving qualities and feedback on the steering wheel can not be compared to the Ford Fiesta driver's driver, but most drivers will be easily satisfied. The suspension is well balanced for picking up the hoods and taking care of a fairly comfortable ride on slightly worse asphalt roads. The choice of the sports program makes the steering system a bit difficult, but again it is not as essential, and yet the clio is still more beautiful than a sports car. Dynamic drivers may be flapping their noses and the vast majority will be satisfied. Renault has abolished the equipment of the GT line and replaced it with equipment of the RS Line, and the classic clia RS has not yet been confirmed.

They do not talk about the price of Renault yet, but the starting point is good

Almost the only detail we could not discover in conversations with French engineers in Portugal was their new price. It will be brought to the Slovenian market in early September and, for now, price negotiations continue on the Paris-Ljubljana route. This will definitely be a little bigger than before, but also due to the more technical equipment involved.

Renault could also exploit its business relationships with other manufacturers in terms of price competitiveness in individual markets. The Clio comes from the CMF-B platform and in 2022 up to 70% of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi vehicles will come from the CMF platform. We mentioned the buttons of Dacia, and more important are the joint development engines with Nissan, Mitsubishi and also Mercedes-Benz.

In Portugal, we were able to test clia with two equipment packages and two engines. At the click of the RS Line, the 1.3-liter, three-cylinder three-cylinder engine with 130 horsepower (resulting from cooperation with Mercedes), and on the click with the Intense equipment, a "100 horsepower" .

This is expected to be the most common choice of physical buyers in Slovenia (diesel engines will also be interesting for fleets). Dynamic drivers will not completely satisfy, the vast majority (as the driving characteristics) will definitely be. In addition, the consumption of a good six liters per 100 kilometers traveled (with a stronger experience in two liters above) is with this very exemplary engine. The basic choice of engines will be the SCe75 atmospheric engine in Slovenia, followed by next year, the first hybrid engine.

Automatic transmission only with more powerful petrol engine

The TCe 100 will only be available in Slovenia with a five-speed manual transmission, and the more robust TCe 130 with an EDC automatic two-speed automatic transmission. In Slovenia, clio will also not be available with the operation of LPG autogas. We already know this powerful engine of Renault's megane, cape and kadiar models, while in the cliu it replaces the most powerful engine with 120 "horses.

Sales and business performance will also be an important factor in the performance of the Revoz factory in Novo mesto since September. Clia will only be manufactured in Turkey.
