We experienced the foldable Huawei Mate X (FIRST PERFORMANCE)

The pre-final sample of the phone appeared at the IXPO in Bratislava.

The foldable Huawei Mate X was introduced at the MWC in Barcelona in late February 2019. However, Huawei then hid it behind glass and bodyguard, so we had to wait 2 months for a personal meeting with this device. And we met in Slovakia, Bratislava.

Huawei Mate X was displayed at Orange's IXPO booth. The phone was presented by the Huawei representative, who showed all the passersby. They could also touch the screen, but the phone could not be busy and folded. But the media has this opportunity and so on we bring the first impressions.

Huawei Mate X

Mate X offers 8-inch monitor with resolution of 2480 × 2200 pixels. You get this diagonal in the open state when the phone happens small pill. Available when folded 6.6-inch front display and a 6.38-inch rear panel. In the case of the verse, however, the screen does not use the entire area available, so you can use the back of the device instead of a mirror or take a picture of selfie.

The 6.6 inch screen offers an experience similar to the Huawei P30 Pro. Both phones differ virtually only that Mate X does not have a cutout. All cameras are located on the back of the side scroll, which contains all the components of the phone. The photographic equipment is the same as the Huawei P30 standard.

While using the phone for several minutes, we were particularly interested in the folding and folding mechanism. Unlike some competing devices – the Huawei Mate X monitor covers its outer side and then fold it so that the screen is divided into two external parts.

The phone handles the process of folding perfectly from a software perspective. For example, if you have a web page open or watch a video on YouTube, that content will be instantly designed for active viewing, either on the front or back of your smartphone or on the exploded display in tablet mode.

It works regardless of whether or not you fold your phone, so we have no reservations in this regard. You do not need to prepare the phone for processing in any way;

Folding your phone is simple and convenient. Simply turn the display halfway and press the two polks together. There is a sound because Mate X has a mechanism to prevent unwanted display layout.

However, its opening is a little less comfortable – a special button should be drawn on the side edge to release the other half of the screen and then open it to align the screen and form a single unit.

Difficult to guess how many times a day we would complete this processif we use Mate X as our primary phone. To quickly check information or to communicate quickly, we would use the phone in smart mode, since the main screen is 6.6 inches and unlike the competition, it offers a complete experience and a large viewing area.

We switched to tablet mode probably only thenif we knew that Companion X would be back in his pants pocket for 5 to 10 minutes – or the situation would require that.

The Huawei Mate X has thickness 11 mm and weight 295 grams. He held us comfortably in his hand and did not slip into his trouser pockets. The display is logical there is no protective glass and although some leaves protect it, it does not seem easy to take off. We mention this in connection with the problems of a competitive folding phone.

Mate X, which was shown in Bratislava, was a pre-final play. Looking at an angle, we realize a tiny bulge in the center of the screen, however, this failure should not appear in the final part. Huawei Mate X receives for sale in September or October. Huawei wants to sell it also in Slovakia, the interest of the operators is.

The price of the phone is 2299 eur and all technical specifications can be found in this article.
