Ten scenes and two smartphones! Do you need to take better pictures of the Huawei P30 Pro or Samsung Galaxy S10 +?

If you choose your new smartphone, you will certainly take into account the price and other parameters to offer the best possible camera. That's why we decided to build two current flagships, the Huawei P30 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S10 +, against each other. Which one takes better pictures and when?

If we look at both news with the camera view, of course we are dealing with the main current smartphones. The Samsung Galaxy S10 + offers a popular combination of ultra widescreen camera, standard lens and telephoto lens with dual optical zoom.

The Huawei P30 Pro is similar, assuming that in this article we neglect its ToF sensor to record the depth of the scene. It also features a wide-angle lens, a main sensor and, of course, a telephoto lens. However, Huawei has put in a lens with optical zoom up to 5x.

As we are still preparing a great phototest of the current flagships, this will be only a small sample of what you can expect. All scenes were taken in fully automatic mode, without changing settings. This is exactly how the vast majority of users use their smartphone.

Of course, both offer ways to enhance the photo while filming or even edit it. However, for the sake of illustration, we will not cover these options today. In addition, in this case, we will not use the dedicated night mode, which has the Huawei P30 Pro, and which is capable of creating photos with a longer shutter.

The first scene

Here we try to take a photo of the light pole. For most smartphones, this is a relatively difficult condition as it is a photograph of an object of light at night. In this case, however, both smartphones advised more than well. True color rendition and single-tape rendering are also missing.

However, Huawei gets some extra points for better rendering of the background in the background. More details are produced by its larger sensor, which the smartphone owns.

The second scene

The second scene is created again at night. This time it's a mannequin in the dark, which is only illuminated by ambient light. However, we can not even say in this case that one smartphone is significantly behind the other. It is again more about what you will like more.

Huawei is a little sharper in this case, though it may give the impression of an artificial and exaggerated focus. On the other hand, in this scene, the P30 Pro was better with different types of light and did not make a significant burn in your case. Especially in the bush line, this is clearly seen. In the case of Samsung, however, the shrubs are already greatly erased. So, we would ideally see the ideal between these two smartphones.

The third scene

We are still in the night photography, as both manufacturers particularly praise what smartphones can produce at night. We have to repeat this scene. Both smartphones have dominated the dynamic range that the scene offers. However, Huawei has, as in previous models, a tendency to use a much cooler white balance. The result is "cold" photography.

In this case, Samsung did a little better with the white balance, and the warmer settings make the colors of the lights and the elements inside the building seem more faithful.

The fourth scene

Again, the Huawei P30 Pro has a tendency to use colder colors than the Samsung Galaxy S10 +. On the other hand, see that the level of detail provided by Huawei is higher. For example, note the left side of the winning bow or the sign to the right.

The Fifth Scene

In the case of a night shot of the winning arch, it is very difficult to find a winner. Both smartphones have an extremely challenging scene with this light. However, Huawei managed to capture the details of the road directly in front of the arch.

Sixth scene

In this photo, it is again seen that Huawei tends to balance the colder white. Of course, this can be easily adjusted directly on your phone, either through Pro mode or directly editing the photo. On the other hand, Huawei is better deal with the details and illuminated inscriptions of the buildings on the scene.

The seventh scene

Finally we reach the sun. For this scene, the colder colors of the Huawei P30 Pro can be seen again. I think the Samsung Galaxy S10 + handled the photo in a closer white balance of reality. On the other hand, Huawei offers more detail and a greater level of sharpness.

The eighth scene

In this series of photos, we compare the approach provided by both smartphones. The Huawei P30 Pro also boasts an extreme 50x digital zoom, but we do not use it in this scene and its results can be found in a separate article.

Both smartphones have a wide-angle lens, which we use first, then we use a standard lens and a telephoto lens. In case of the Samsung Galaxy S10 we also use a 10x digital zoom. The Huawei P30 Pro features 5x optical zoom and 10x hybrid zoom.

Ninth Scene

In this case, it is a landscape, the sun is slightly below the cloud, but the lights are more than enough. Many differences between the two are not here, although it is worth remembering that the Huawei P30 Pro has a cool white balance as standard. Appears in almost every photo.

Samsung Galaxy S10 +, on the other hand, as usual, slightly improves color. Higher levels of saturation are particularly noticeable in grass and sky. Overall, the decision is quite subjective, since someone will be a bit more overwhelmed than others.

Tenth scene

We came to the final photo, created by the front camera. The differences are similar to those of the previous scenes. I will repeat myself a few times, but the Samsung Galaxy S10 + has a warmer color rendering as well as a slightly higher saturation level.

Huawei P30 Pro, thanks to the intelligent HDR mode, better mastered the difference in brightness between the subject's face and back.

Whatever the pair of smartphones you choose, it's always about what you like. Both smartphones belong to the top. However, it should be recognized that the Huawei P30 Pro has a slightly higher level of detail in the case of photos tested, but, on the other hand, uses a slightly cooler color balance that may not be enjoyed by anyone.

Let us know in the comments below which article would you choose for the top smartphones in your photos and why? We will be happy to share with you if you are more interested in taking pictures created with the Huawei P30 Pro, or through the current top Korean model, the Samsung Galaxy S10 +.
