PC Review | Samsung Galaxy Tab S4: Draw and Play

The smartphone and tablet market has changed dramatically in recent years, and smartphone diagonals are slowly increasing, but also after the introduction of the first Galaxy Note 1 ghost. Today, six inches and more are not uncommon today, so it's not surprising that the offer of classic tablets on the market has been relatively reduced and we can only find them in some producers of prizes. However, the 6.5 "smartphone screen is not further from the smaller 7" diagonal table, and also offers a greater range of features and dimensions more convenient for casual use. Other issues are high-end tablets with 10.5 "diagonals, including the tested model.

Design and Hardware

The Galaxy Tab S4 is intended primarily for professional users, but also for those seeking high-performance, high-quality features. It comes with a Super AMOLED super-touch screen with resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels, providing 287 ppi on the 10.5 "diagonal screen, with Qualcomm MSM8998 (2.35 GHz + 1.9 GHz) processor at 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal UFS storage, but the capacity can be upgraded with a microSD card up to 400 GB, and a stylus that has basically the same functionality in basic android mode as the Galaxy Note, but the manufacturer has neglected its at least if you do not fit the case with an external keyboard I tested it with a tablet and its part is a pen holder, but it is not even a practical solution to this, the pen is relatively rough, which is in terms of ergonomics The design of the tablet is a combination of metal frames and Gorilla Glass on both sides. The width of the frame is compared to today.I smartphones relatively large but if you use the tablet without housing receive it and much more Occasionally it happens that you You do not want to change anything on the screen, especially when trying to hold a hand. The front does not bother you, you can not find any button or fingerprint sensor at the bottom. The buttons are software only and the sensor manufacturer replaces face or iris detection. The back is smooth, but at the top there is a camera bumper that prevents a stable placement on the block. The appearance of the rear camera on the 10.5-inch tablet is somewhat illusory and perhaps best to fold, the video call or the "inevitable" selfie are still at the front, the power and volume buttons are upright in the top corner right. MicroSD slots and micro SIM, USB-C and 3.5 mm connectors on the bottom The tablet is equipped with four speakers, two front and two rear, in which Samsung worked with AKG.

In addition to the standard Android tablet mode, there is a DeX mode that can be used with an external monitor or run directly on the device, according to the Galaxy Note. In this mode, the user interface changes to resemble a PC environment. Applications can be opened in separate windows and can be run multiple times at the same time. For work, this view is more appropriate and its use is best with an external keyboard and monitor. For example, with the keyboard mentioned above with a case, which also provides support for the device, it works very well. The tablet is coupled to the so-called POGO interface, ie some external contacts with magnetic adhesion. The keyboard is well written, but it is a mistake – you just need to write accents, the keystrokes are not, and it is often easier to switch to the virtual keyboard. In addition, only the QWERTY layout can be used. For a more serious job, you can also use a classic bluetooth keyboard or mouse. However, this is no longer the goal of this tablet. For example, graphic artists, designers or artists who can make sketches or drawings on the ground or on the move, thanks to the quality of the pen and the high resolution. However, when working with a pen, it is best to use Android mode, which also includes the pen tools mentioned above, which in DeX mode is a bit illogical.

Testing experience

I have to say that although I'm not a big fan of tablets, I really enjoyed it. It's an exciting combination of Super AMOLED, a high-end monitor that is one of the best high-performance tablet puzzles and a host of features. The tablet does not replace the classic notebook, but may be a better choice in some specific applications, especially thanks to the excellent stylus. Benchmark performance is best, although it does not have top-of-the-line smartphones. It does not interfere with this, however, it will also handle the most demanding tasks. Excelent when playing video, even in 4K resolution. The Super AMOLED display is not surprising in this regard, and a four-speaker sound system also offers excellent levels. He did not hesitate to play titles like Asphalt 8, World of Tanks and Fortnite. For fans of Fortnite, Samsung also had a surprise. If you have the Galaxy Tab S4 or Galaxy Note 9, you can play three times and get a special skin that will envy your friends. The battery life is also interesting and, for example, when watching movies in Full HD, it takes 15 hours. In normal work, I charged after three days. You will charge your tablet with a fast charger in about two hours.
