The Internet is already the traditional site of various scams and fraudulent websites that try to obtain confidential information from their visitors. A common phenomenon is competition for valuable prizes, which often seek only to attract money from users. We have been alerted to such frauds several times on our site. Among the most recent discoveries, another fraudulent competition was added SR Police within their Facebook page of Hoaxes and Scams.
Underwater Contest in Note 9
The site called Samsung Slovakia (fb.com/samsungslovakia) is officially represented by a South Korean producer in Slovakia. However, he denied that this is his own profile. The site states that Samsung celebrates its 80th anniversary since its launch and therefore places the four newest phones in the competition. Samsung Galaxy Note 9 in a photo depicted in 4 colors. Facebook users should have status, share it, and mark someone else from their friends in the comment.
The site states that the contest will be evaluated only if it involves at least 3,000 people. In these competitions, the organizer generally broadens Facebook fan base by winning the names of people willing to participate in a fraudulent contest. These people are then contacted by fraudsters and in many ways try to get money from them, like earning or checking fees. Often it is a small amount, but with a large number of deceived people makes a large number.
How do you know the page of the coup?
Slovak police also warns about recognizing the common characteristics of similar sites:
1. In the case of big brands, there are paradoxically few fans. Every great and well-known brand has been on Facebook for years with a large audience.
2. Absence of text in the "Information" section, for example, without the infoline number or the official e-mail address.
3. No site content except for a single post related to the contest. Possibly nothing to speak of status. No posts about specific people, company representatives.
4. No innovative competition, just classic "share, comment, mark".
