REUTERS: Rangers coach Steven Gerrard has finally lost his temper with striker Alfredo Morelos after he was sent off for the fifth time this season during a 2-1 defeat in Scotland at Celtic, Old Firm rival on Sunday .
Morelos received a red card for elbowing Celtic captain Scott Brown in an incident that lasted only half an hour at Celtic Park.
"I went far beyond Morelos and I can not defend that," said Gerrard, whose team was 13 points behind their rivals, missing seven rounds for the final.
"He let his teammates and the puppy fall again," he said, adding that the volatile attacker would be fined a week's salary.
The first red card Morelos received this season to kick Aberdeen defender Scott McKenna in August was later rescinded but the striker was sent off twice more against the same opponents in December and February.
Morelos, who has scored 29 goals for Rangers so far this season, also got red in the 1-1 draw in the Europa League against Russia's Ufa.
"I still think he's a fantastic player and I'm still going to protect him, but he comes to a line and he was probably above the line that is already with me," added the coach.
"From now on indiscipline must stop, a million percent. I'm going to take a much harder line on that."
