Do you know how many miles you can travel after your fuel tank lights up in your car, remembering that you need to refuel?
It was thought that it was about fifty kilometers before the next filling, but it turned out to be a real roulette wheel.
A new study from the Daily Mail reveals which car models can spend most of the miles "in reserve" and which, at least.
Search the British portal Compare the market In a sample of 1,000 Britons, more than a third of drivers believe they can cross another 20 miles or 32 kilometers.
The reality is, however, that most cars can travel twice as many miles and some up to four times. A survey conducted on a sample of 96 most popular models from 29 different manufacturers in the market.
On average, the backup light fires when less than 10% of the total size of the fuel tank remains.
The survey used British metric miles per gallon and capacity for a full tank, but of course there are no rules that a certain range may be identical, since factors such as traffic conditions, driver style or load of the vehicle with additional weight should be counted.
According to research Compare the market The car that can pass the greatest number of kilometers in reserve is the Folksfagen Pasat, which is about 120 kilometers to complete the stop.
The Volvo V40 and Ford Mondeo can also drive for a long time to the next gas station in the reserve, more precisely – 112 miles. On the other hand, the BMW M3 online has the lowest range in the reserve – 51 kilometers.
Interestingly, many city superchargers with small engines such as Kylie Picanto, Fiat 500, Mini, Citroën C1, Peugeot 108, Nisana Juke and Ford Fiesta are in the top 10 with the lowest reach of the reserve, which is not surprising because they have tanks of small capacity fuel.
Risk of driving in the reserve
A frequent ride on a reservation can cause serious mechanical failures, such as a fuel pump failure. The change is usually not trivial so it is best to avoid it, and in Germany, driving on a reservation on the road is even punishable.
