Podgorica, (MINA) – 247 heroin addicts are using buprenorphine replacement therapy in Montenegro, said psychiatrist at the Clinical Psychiatry Center Irena Ljutica.
According to her, there are far more patients on buprenorphine replacement therapy in Montenegro than methadone.
"In Podgorica, 247 patients have so far been included in the buprenorphine replacement program," Ljutica told MINA.
As stated by Ljutica, buprenorphine was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration in 2002, while it can also be found on the Montenegrin market for the past six years.
