FNBS strike not respected in Kaolack

Kaolack, April 17 (APS) – The strike of the National Federation of Senegalese Bakers (FNBS) was not followed in the Kaolack region, said Medoune Sarr, local representative of the union federation.

"The FNBS has been in a state of flux since Wednesday, but the point is that Kaolack's bakers have not followed that slogan," Sarr said in an APS interview.

"We are not on strike and we continue our work as usual. I think this strike is more about bakers in Dakar because we do not have the same performance," he added.

He explained that the price and quantity of bread sold vary by location. "In Dakar, the return is 250 francs, while in Kaolack our income is between 165 francs and 170 francs," he said.

"As you have seen, we are at work and at the same pace as always, but we want a drop in the price of flour that is becoming more expensive," says Pape Faye, owner of a bakery in his thirties.

A tour of the city in several restaurants and other gargottes was enough to explain the lack of follow-up of the FNBS's slogan, bread being available as usual to accompany the dishes.
