Dame DIOP, Minister for Employment, Vocational Training and Handicrafts (MEFPA), in the presence of Ms. Carmen MAGARINOS CASAL, Chargé d'affaires of the European Union (EU) Delegation in Senegal, will hold tomorrow, Tuesday, May 14 , in the official reception of the first six mobile vocational training units, comprising five equipped vans and a bus dedicated to information and communication technologies (ICT) in the regions of Ziguinchor, Sédhiou, Kolda, Tambacounda and Kedougou.

The ceremony will be held at 10:30 am at the National Center for Professional Qualification (CNQP). The objective of the Mobile Training Units (UMF) is to improve access to vocational training for people who are penalized for their remoteness. The main objective is to ensure a more equitable access to vocational training for people living in low-income rural areas where the workforce does not justify the construction of vocational training centers and where the training provision does not cover certain needs of the sectors and economic development.

These mobile units are designed to provide short, qualified training for youth, community organizations or productive assets. These are innovative vehicle-based devices, consisting of well-equipped and equipped cabins-workshops capable of moving in hard-to-reach areas and in which all educational and tooling materials are incorporated. training. Three sectors were identified:

– Information and Communication Technologies (ICT);

– industry;

– Agri-food processing.

Each of the 5 regions will thus have an FMU. The Kolda region will also be responsible for bus

The acquisition of the UMF was done under the second component of the "Developing Employment in Senegal" program, which aims to strengthen the Equal Access to Vocational Training – ACEFOP implemented by LuxDev.

As a reminder, the 4-year "Developing Employment in Senegal" program, funded by 26 billion CFAF by the European Union's Emergency Trust Fund, aims to address the root causes of irregular migration and the phenomenon of displaced persons in Africa. Launched in May 2017, it aims to:

(1) Strengthen the fabric of local enterprises;

(2) expanding equitable access to vocational training;

(3) Facilitate access to funding for beneficiaries;

(4) Report on economic opportunities in Senegal.
