In Bashkiria, a child has HIV detected –


In March 2019, doctors diagnosed HIV infection in a child. Although the mode of transmission of the virus is unknown, an epidemiological investigation is under way. According to the Republican Center for AIDS and Infectious Diseases, this is a boy under the age of 15.

To date, 224 children have been registered. Most of them took the infection perinatally (217 children). Three were infected parenterally, one through breast milk. Two children failed to establish the route of HIV transmission.

In January alone – 92 women with HIV gave birth to 92 children. The infection was first diagnosed in 124 pregnant women.
