Counterpoint Research has published a report that reveals the 10 best-selling smartphones in the Chinese market and globally for the year 2018. However, there are also the best-selling devices globally. Surprisingly, Oppo emerges as the leading smartphone brand. It has five of its smartphones in China's Top 10 list. And how will things have been global?
The best-selling smartphones in 2018 in China
Let's start with China. The report reveals that the Oppo R15 was the best-selling smartphone in China for the year 2018. That said, it comes first. Soon after, the Apple iPhone X appears in second place.
The third, fourth and fifth places were occupied by Oppo A5, Oppo A83 and Vivo X21. Following are the Apple iPhone 8 Plus, Vivo Y85, Oppo A72, Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus and Oppo R11s. They go from sixth to tenth.
The best-selling smartphones in 2018 in the global market
As for the international markets, the top 10 smartphones were Apple iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8, iPhone 7, Xiaomi Redmi 5A, Samsung Galaxy S9, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus and Samsung J6.
However, there is a weird factor in the Counterpoint list. Is that no smartphone appears from Huawei and Honor.
However, it is surprising to see that none of the Huawei or Honor smartphones has hit Counterpoint's list of best-selling smartphones. This is rather strange, as Huawei is dominating the Chinese smartphone market.
However, according to Counterpoint, sales of previous generation iPhones totaled about 100 million units, while iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR sold more than 16 million units each. He also adds that the Redmi 5A has added 20 million units to Xiaomi's shipments.
In the case of Huawei – the company that did not enter the list – would have sold more than 13 million units of the Huawei P20 Lite smartphone.
However, the report does not reveal what position it occupies in the TOP relative to the most sold smartphones in 2018.
However these numbers may be different in the current year. The financial report recently released by Huawei for the first quarter of 2019 states that the company was able to ship more than 59 million smartphones for distribution, the highest first-quarter sales. This year, it intends to sell more than 250 million smartphones.
