Blockade in Poland? Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin takes the position


The Ministry of Development, Labor and Technology is categorically against the introduction of the lockdown, regardless of the epidemic situation. The economy must work – said deputy prime minister and head of the ministry, Jarosław Gowin, during the meeting with representatives of the Polish Trade Employers’ Union and Usługi.


On Wednesday evening, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Development, Labor and Technology Jarosław Gowin and Deputy Minister Olga Semeniuk spoke with representatives of the Polish Service and Trade Employers Association about the condition and postulates of clothing industry in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic, the ministry said on Thursday.

In addition, Bartosz Marczuk, vice president of the Polish Development Fund, also participated in the conversation.

“The economy must work”

– We don’t know how long the pandemic will last. There are – exceptionally many, for Poland – medium and large companies in their sector. You are a spectacular example of the success of Polish business. Therefore, we want you to survive the current situation in the best possible conditions – Deputy Prime Minister Gowin said to representatives of the clothing industry.

He emphasized that MRPiT “is categorically against the introduction of a blockade, regardless of the epidemic situation.” “The economy needs to work,” he said.

Deputy Minister Semeniuk noted that fixed sales, as well as sales over the Internet, are a very important branch of the economy. – Together with Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin, we are happy that entrepreneurs, for example, changing the model of online commerce, are doing their best to survive this difficult time for everyone. Together, we will certainly find constructive solutions – said Semeniuk.

According to the ministry, the industry was present at the meeting: president of Lancerto Tomasz Ciąpała, president of PAAN Capital and owner of the Tatuum Paweł Kapłon brand, vice president of LPP Sławomir Łoboda, president of OCHNIK Marcin Ochnik.

Prime Minister’s Conference

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said at a news conference on Thursday that it is best to stop the coronavirus by appropriate social behavior. He stressed that the economy had closed in France. – We want to refrain from that. We don’t want to close the economy completely as long as possible, he said. The Prime Minister stressed that for this purpose the principles of social discipline must be observed. He called for a reduction in contacts. “We are preparing the Polish state for a very bad scenario,” added Morawiecki.
