"700 plus" – under this slogan there is a summary of the increase of the minimum wage for the PiS authorities. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at Tuesday's press conference announced the value of next year's minimum wage. If the announcements are confirmed, the minimum wage in 2020 will grow to PLN 2,450, which means it will be PLN 200 higher than at present. As the prime minister emphasized, since the beginning of the power of PiS, the minimum wage has increased by 700 zlotys.

Mateusz Morawiecki's "700 plus" is a summary of the increase in the minimum wage

On Tuesday, June 11, 2019, the Prime Minister announced the increase of the minimum wage for 2020. The following year, the lowest national will be 200 PLN more than today. Employees can expect PLN 2450 from the minimum wage.

Mateusz Morawiecki: These are our 700 plus. It can be said that, annually, it is the thirteenth salary for the least paid. This change will be noticeable, especially after taking into account the IRPF reduction to 17%.

"700 plus" is a project that was not announced, but PiS is proud of it.

As emphasized by Mateusz Morawiecki, "700 plus" is an unannounced project. PiS, however, is proud of it. According to the prime minister, raising the minimum wage was of great importance to Polish officials – wages should grow to make the economy more efficient.

Mateusz Morawiecki: An employee must be respected and his remuneration is to make him feel dignified. The value of remuneration also depends on the efficiency of the work itself and, consequently, on the efficiency and competitiveness of the whole economy. In 2020, the minimum wage will be PLN 2450. This is an increase of 700 PLN since the beginning of our governments. This is a project we do not announce and we are proud of. This is our 700 plus.

"700 more" do not like employers. They are afraid of a very large increase in the minimum wage

Employers are not as optimistic as the prime minister. In their view, such a high and sudden increase in wages can be fatal for businesses.

  1. Employers suggest raising the minimum wage to 2387 PLN.
  2. The unions (FZZ, NSZZ "Solidarność", OPZZ) want the minimum wage in 2020 to be 2,520 gross PLN.

It is worth remembering that the official value of the next year's minimum wage will be announced on September 15 – then the announcement of the prime minister will be announced.

1. First, life expectancy grows – men and women. Once, retirees were putting the retirement system in less time because they were dying earlier.

2. Very few children are born in many countries of Western culture. When they grow up, they will not be able to support so many retirees.
