Cebu City, Philippines – Behind every successful queen, there is a group of people who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to help her realize her dreams.

In the case of the newly crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2019 Gazini Christiana Ganados from Talisay City, Cebu, was the beauty field Kagandahang Flores (KF) Cebu and the talent agency Origin Model and Artists Management.

KF Cebu was in charge of training the Gazini contest, while the Origin Model and Artist Management took care of the campaign photoshoots and online platforms.

Together, they helped the athlete win the prestigious Miss Universe Philippines 2019 on June 9, 2019, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Cebuano makeup artist Jonas Borces, who heads KF Cebu, told Cebu Daily News Digital that KF, usually led by Rogil Flores, is impressed and happy with the beauty queen of Cebuana.

"I'm the happiest because we finally have a Miss Universe Philippines from KF Cebu. It has not all gone down. Thank God for this blessing. It really warms my heart, "he said.

Ganado training was described as very rigid. Ganados and the rest of the KF girls had to fight almost every day with blood, sweat, and tears.

"It was definitely not a walk in the park," he said. "Gazini and all the other girls we train know that I am rigorous during training and sessions."

Rain or shine, they trained almost every day for less than 10 months to prepare for the big day at KF Cebu Camp and KF Headquarters in Manila.

Training would begin from late afternoon until dawn the next day.

KF girls had to be disciplined in terms of diet, which means eating right and quantifying food.

"It was a group effort and I would like to commend all those who have helped us along the way. Thanks to the entire KF team for making things happen, "he said.

In addition to being physically ready, a candidate must also be mentally prepared.

Even after the name of Ganados reached the official list, they had to ask her again and make sure she was really determined to be a part of Binibining Pilipinas 2019.

"I had to make sure that Gazini is really aiming for it and has the motivation because it will be easier for me to tell her what to do and what not to do. When I saw the dedication months ago, it was when I knew that this girl would make us proud and, indeed, yes, "Borces said.

But what made the 23-year-old Ganados stand out during the big day?

For Borces, it was his aura and undeniable stage presence.

"She came prepared and exuded grace and elegance. All your hard work paid off. I was really the proudest cheering for her from afar, "Borces said.

KF also enlisted the help of Richardson Apayla, the designer of the city of San Carlos to design his national costume inspired by Queen Juana and the Sinulog Festival. Her dress was designed by Cebuano and master stylist Cary Santiago.

KF Cebu has also produced several queens in the past who have joined the contests of Binipining Pilipinas.

These are Binibining Pilipinas Grand International 2018 Eva Psyche Patalinjug, Binibining Pilipinas Supranational 2015 Rogelie Catacutan, and Miss Intercontinental 2014 second runner-up Kris Tiffany Janson.

The same beauty camp is also home to other winners of other events such as Miss Earth 2014 Jamie Herrell and Miss Earth 2008, Karla Henry.

Origin Model and Artist Management, meanwhile, took care of Ganados since she began modeling when he was 15 years old.

She was discovered by Sven Chua, who owns Source Model and Artist Management.

Since then, it has been Ganados plan to join the contest of Binipining Pilipinas, according to Chua.

"She was just waiting for the perfect time," he told CDN Digital.

Chua was impressed with the kind of support that was given to Ganados.

It was a challenge for them to bring supporters together that evening, especially for a candidate who is not from Manila.

Chua admitted that the mentality of his team with Ganados was the crown of the Miss Universe Philippines or nothing.

"Admit it or not, most of the girls participating in the contest are aiming for the crown of the Miss Universe Philippines," he said.

As KF Cebu took care of training for the Ganados parade, Chua and his team had to focus on their online campaign, including the photoshoots.

The online campaign began around March 2019.

Ganados had to be home in Cebu for a photo shoot, using 13 different collections. His style was under the hands of Edward James Castro and Axel Que.

The photo shoot started from 6am to 3pm. The photos were taken by Jon Unson, Joseph Ong and Mark Philipp Dales.

Chua also had to gather the best and award-winning makeup artists in Cebu to rejoice the beauty queen of Cebuana, including Jomer Arances, Nicko Dela Peña, Chady Pantaleon, Niño John Solis and Geva Villasencio.

In addition to the photos released online, they also had to record the video of Ganados in their advocacy of elder care.

His video campaign was made by Jubert Valmores, Chinito Films, Ian Paul and Mark Philipp Dales.

Chua admitted that it was challenging to deal with his online campaign, especially with the presence of bashers.
