According to the preliminary investigation of the failed landing maneuver of the Israeli Beresheet, after a malfunction of the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), a command was sent to the spacecraft.

This led to a chain of events in the spacecraft, which shut off the main engine and prevented proper activation of the engine.

The SpaceIL and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) staff continues to investigate what occurred during the mission. In the coming weeks, the final results of the investigation will be released.

SpaceIL President Morris Kahn said: "I am proud of SpaceIL's team of engineers for their wonderful work and dedication, which is an integral part of a complex and pioneering project."

"The important thing now is to learn the best lessons from our mistakes and to continue to advance with courage." This is the message we would like to convey to people in Israel and around the world.
