Deontay Wilder destroys Dominic Breazeale in the first round with a straight knockout

NEW YORK – Here comes "trouble". And down he went.

Mandatory challenger Dominic Breazeale has said all the right things in the heavyweight title bout at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. But Deontay Wilder's explosive right hand made all the bad blood share a dumb point between them.

Wilder (41-0-1, 40 KOs) added yet another violent end to his career with a brutal knockout punch at 2:17 of the first round. Wilder, 33, made the ninth defense of the WBC title he originally captured in 2015.

After a week of controversial fighting, Wilder was attacked for threatening Breazeale's life inside the ring and sharing his hope of someday adding a corpse to his record, the Alabama-born slugger showed his scary and historic power in the opening.

"Everything just came out of me tonight," Wilder said. "I know there have been a lot of words and animosity against each other and ended up coming out tonight. This is what makes boxing so good when you can have both inside and just outgrown."
