How are you doing the first steps of Call of Duty: Modern war, watch the debris in the London electronics store. In this canon, Activision has launched a console, and its controller is the most powerful version of a dual analog gamepad you can imagine.
Meet the "Actibase", which comes with a wireless controller, HDMI and AC power cables. Infinity Ward created an electronics store-level console kiosk and therefore needed hardware to fit the look. It's doubtful that Microsoft's or Sony's console partners want their products to fire (let alone featured alongside a series of corpses, which are off camera in our screenshots here).
The packaging appears to show screenshots of previous Call of Duty games (which appear to be Infinite war far left and right, Call of Duty Dog from Ghosts, both joints of Infinity Ward). But check out this decidedly clumsy controller.
First, the non-ergonomic layout of the face buttons is much worse than roman numbering. Then look at the D-pad. It is safe to say that this is not the console of the fighting game community. Speaking of ergonomics, how about the console's big power button, just begging a curious domestic animal to unplug it during play.
Activision was one of the first publishers of third-party consoles, almost 40 years old, but the company never had hardware ambitions. If Actibase is any indication, it should remain so. A beautiful destructible support for an energy shooting, but with only 120 GB on board, it can hold Modern war and some arcade titles. SMH.
Called modern armament war now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
