Apex Legends season 1 patch notes detail Octane, Legend hitbox changes

The first season officially arrived Legends of Apex, and next to it is a fairly robust patch. This patch not only adds the season ticket to the game, but also adds the new octane legend. Although a new playable Legend is always one of the biggest parts – if not The most – from a Legends of Apex patch, there is much more to dig.

First, let's talk about what Octane is capable of. Respawn describes the Octane as a kind of adrenaline junkie, which explains his ultimate ability to Launch Pad. Most Legends of Apex players are already familiar with the Octane Launchpads, but in case you do not do it, it basically does what it says on the tin, catapulting players into the air whenever they step on it. It has a 90-second reload, so with an Ultimate Accelerant or two, it can be a very handy cross-mapping tool.

Octane passive sounds are particularly powerful. Nicknamed Swift Mend, it allows Octane to recover a life every two seconds while he is not receiving damage. His tactical ability, Stim, plays with this, as it allows him to move 30% faster for six seconds at the cost of some health. It also gives you some resistance to attacks that slow you down, such as Arc Stars or heavy ammunition.

In addition to Octane, Respawn has implemented a number of stability and quality of life changes in this patch. The company says it has improved the stability of various GPU configurations. So if the game has failed randomly before, there will be at least a good chance of happening less often.

There is also a new report available in-game for the player, which will send reports directly to Easy Anti-Cheat. Respawn says that as of this morning, almost 500,000 accounts have been banned by mistake, so we expect that number to grow rapidly now, in fact, there is a reporting feature available in all versions of the game.

There were also some changes in existing Legends as well. Pathfinder, Gibraltar and Caustic now have hitboxes that align best with their models, so while they're still easy to hit, this can give them a little more survivability. Caustic actually received several buffs, since the cooldown in its traps was reduced in five seconds. These traps also have a proximity radius and a 10% greater radius, and there is no more one second of delay before their poisonous smoke starts to inflict damage on players.

The Pathfinder is another Legend that has been significantly altered. His grasp range has been increased from 850 to 900, and a new icon will appear in his sights when an enemy is within range of grabbing. The Pathfinder can now also fight against ziplines, so expect to see a bunch of robots running all over your games.

Finally, Respawn says that the Double Time Bangalore bonus movement speed – which is activated at any time under fire – has been reduced from 40% to 30%, which is a light nerf that increases your level of power with other characters .
