Hermosillo, Jan 28 (Notimex) .- The Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) warned that tobacco and alcohol consumption will increase the appearance of tongue, larynx and lung cancer, and the younger the person consumes, the greater the risk of to suffer.
The oncologist at IMSS's Sonora Regional General Hospital (HGR), Sonora, Raúl Rivera Márquez, explained that three out of every hundred patients suffer from some form of cancer in the upper body, whether in the head or any part of the body. body
The most frequent is language, which is related to alcohol and tobacco consumption and represents three percent, he said in a statement.
Meanwhile, inhalation of solvents and such substances are more related to cancer of the nasal cavity or paranasal sinuses, which is the area around the nose and is only one in a thousand, he added.
He mentioned that workers who maintain permanent contact with paints or solvents should be aware of any symptoms they may present, such as nasal obstruction, rhinorrhea, or discharge of any liquid.
He pointed out that in the case of presenting some of the symptoms mentioned, they should go as quickly as possible with the family doctor.
Rivera Márquez said that men suffer more from this type of disease and that another risk factor for cancer of the larynx, oropharynx or in the oral cavity in general is the human papillomavirus (HPV).
He stressed that, as with any type of cancer, if it is detected early, it has a high probability of cure, so the goal is always to raise awareness of the population and any symptoms or changes they detect.
The IMSS oncology specialist pointed out that if there is any cancer, treatment should be started as soon as possible.
