The United States beat Thailand 13-0 and recorded the biggest win of all time in a World Cup.
Already in the first match of the World Cup, the Americans showed what lives in them. Particularly in the second half – especially in the last quarter – Thailand got a live football show.
Alex Morgan, who was the great player of the match, opened the goal in the eleven minutes. Then Rose Lavelle and Lindsey Horan scored and gave a comfortable 3-0 lead for the break.
At another point, Thai keeper Sukanya Charoenying had to take four balls off the net in six minutes. Samantha Mewis (2), Morgan and Lavelle scored the goals.
As if that were not enough, the USA scored six times in the 74th minute. Morgan was responsible for two of them, plus two goal-oriented passes while Megan Rapinoe, Mallory Pugh and Carli Lloyd signed up for the goal.
On a day when both the European champion Holland and Sweden had to fight long to collect wins, the Americans held a theater with Thailand.
There is little doubt that the 2015 world champion is serious this year as well.
