Chinese conglomerate buys Chilean developer of Australis for US $ 7.4 billion

The businessman Isidoro Quiroga sells his shares to the Chinese company Joyvio, a subsidiary of Legends Holdings, owner of Lenovo PC maker.

The newspaper La Tercera confirms.

Quiroga owns 94.5% of the shares of the Chilean breeder. He took over the company in 2003. According to the company's annual report, Australasia produced 64,819 tonnes of salmon in 2017.

The Chinese company announces that it will make a 100% offer of Australis shares.

The offer values the company 100 percent to $ 880 million, corresponding to NOK 7.4 billion.

The deadline for the agreement is set for April 2019.

Earlier this year, Australis announced that it wanted to go to the Oslo Stock Exchange. The breeder was listed on the Santiago Stock Exchange in 2011.

The acquisition comes a few months after Agrosuper bought AquaChile.
